1.0 Introduction
Everyday, the number of people in the world is rising. Because of that phenomena the rapid development forced to do to accommodate the total population such as urbanization. However, the unwell planning development was done that made our environment in trouble. The major factor of that problem was happened is no collaboration from the built environment professions in urbanization. So, these developments require the cooperation of related party to preserve our natural world. Due to this, collaboration of built environment professions such as architect, engineer, landscape architect, planner and etc is require to play their role to preserved our environment.
2.0 Definition
2.1 Collaboration
According to American dictionary Homepage the meaning of “collaboration’’ divided into two : First, “collaboration’’ is to work jointly with others or together especially in an intellectual endeavor. According to Merriam – Webster homepage “Collaboration’’ is a process where two or more people or organizations work together in an intersection of common goals for example, an intellectual endeavor that is creative in nature by sharing knowledge, learning and building consensus. From definition above, “collaboration’’ can be concluded as working together to solving problem and to improving performance to succeed the goals.
2.2 Built environment

According to Wikipedia homepage “built environment’’ refers to the man-made surroundings that provide the setting for human activities, ranging in scale from personal shelter to neighborhoods to the large-scale civic surrounding. (Wikipedia homepage accessed on 31 August 2009 )
From definition above, “built environment’’ can be verified as a built man-made surroundings by using science and technology for the human benefit.
2.3 Built environment profession

2.3.1 Architect
The meaning of “ Architect ’’ are who designs and supervises the construction of buildings or other large structures.( American dictionary webpage accessed, 29 August 2009 )
“ Architects ’’ is a person who are plan, design and review the construction of buildings and structures for the use of people by the creative organization of materials and components with consideration to mass, space, form, volume, texture, structure, light, shadow, materials, program and pragmatic elements such as cost, construction limitations and technology, to achieve an end which is usually functional, economical, practical and artistic. 2.3.2 Engineer
There have a few definition of engineer. First, “ Engineer ’’ who are designs and develops devices that directly and indirectly assist humans by fusing computing, neuroscience, engineering and physics. 2.3.3 Landscape Architect

2.3.4 Planner
“ Planner’’ are dedicated to developing innovative approaches to managing cities and planning their development. The constructive management of change is at the heart of the profession. The role of planner importance throughout the country,“ Planners ’’ often work in local governments and communities, but their concerns are issues that affect the world - land use, social policy, historic preservation, transportation, housing, economic development, policy planning, environmental protection, urban design and international development. 2.4 Urbanization
“ Urbanization ’’ is the physical growth of urban areas from rural areas as a result of population immigration to an existing urban is another major factor. Effects include change in density and administration services. While the exact definition and population size of urbanized areas varies among different countries, “ Urbanization ’’ is attributed to growth of cities. “ Urbanization ’’ is also defined by the United Nations as movement of people from rural to urban areas with population growth equating to urban migration. 3.0 How the collaboration in built environment professions can play their role in urbanization.
3.1 The role of Architect
The role of Architect in urbanization is to provide an assessment of the way people build in the area, their use of dwellings, community facilities and other buildings. The architect might need to comply with local planning and zoning laws, such as required setbacks, height limitations, parking requirements and land use. Besides that, Architects prepare the technical documents such as construction drawing and specifications, usually coordinated with and supplemented by various engineers, that are filed for obtaining permits development and building permits that require compliance with building, seismic, and relevant federal and local regulations. 3.2 The role of Engineer
The role of engineer in an urbanization is to assess the stability and weakness of new structures and existing structures. They will specify structural requirements and retrofitting safety measures to ensure the structures that used is safe and strong for a long time. 3.3 The role of Landscape Architect
The role of landscape architects in an urbanization is planning and design the open and semi-open spaces. They need to analyze the nature around the place and choose which one to develop or preserve in that area. Landscape architect also, concern about the weather, the kind of soil, the hills, the water, and the plants that are there. Besides that, they also see where the existing buildings, roads, walkways, and parks that have historical value to be preserved. The role of landscape architect in an urbanization in able to ensure the temperature in an urban area is not overheated and will make the urban area more attractive and harmony by combination of natural elements and man-made structures. 3.4 The role of Planner
The role of planner in an urbanization is to plan for quality development in the right locations. They develop regulations that are practical and cost-effective to implement. Besides that, they draw up and amend local planning policies and create a guidelines of urbanization requirements. All policies and guideline that proposed by planner will be used by architect, engineer, landscape architect and etc in each development. 4.0 Suggestion / Advantages from Collaboration in built environment profession in urbanization
4.1 Save environment at Urban area
The collaboration of the built environment professions such as architect, engineer, landscape architect and planner in an urbanization can ensure the development process can be done properly. That is because, every professions in built environment they have their own responsibility to environment. So, they will work together to ensure our environment it not destroy during the urbanization process.
4.2 Well – Planning
Most of the profession that involved in the built environment is a professional. The urbanization process will be smooth because of well – planning that have plan. As a result, the problem that happened in that urbanization will reduced especially about the cost, delay, and etc.
4.3 Reduce urban heat island
As we know, urbanization can create the problem of urban heat island. If the development is not well-planned or without a proper solutions the problem of urban heat island could arises in the area. So the collaboration of built environment profession is the best way to reduce the effect of urban heat island in an urban area. In this case, landscape architects will play their role to help reducing the effect of urban heat island in an urbanization. Landscape architect will solve the problem by increasing the percentage of green space in an urbanization. So that, at the green space area they can provide a lot of vegetations such as trees, shrubs and groundcovers that can help to cool down the heat and temperature in urban area.
5.0 Conclusion
From the discussions above, collaboration of built environment professions can be concluded as one of needs in the urbanization. The collaboration from the built environment professions can helps to sustain and preserve our environment in the urbanization process. They can play their role to produce a well-planned design in the development. Due to this, their collaboration will help to ensure each development can be completed nicely. So, collaboration of built environment professions in urbanization is the key to ensure our environment is in an excellent condition.
